Pulmonary artery division using Signia Small Diameter Reload: An initial experience

Abstract
Introduction:
The Signia™ Small Diameter Reload (Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN, USA) is a recently introduced vascular 4-row stapler with a narrow, 6.3-mm anvil. We report our initial experience performing pulmonary artery division with the Signia Small Diameter Reload during lung lobectomy.
Methods:
Between August 2020 and November 2020, 6 patients with primary lung cancer underwent lung lobectomy using Signia Small Diameter Reload. We used Signia Small Diameter Reload for 8 pulmonary arteries in 6 patients.
Results:
Six of the 8 pulmonary arteries were divided without bleeding. In the remaining 2 cases, oozing after stapler division required compression. No additional procedures such as ligation or sutures were needed. Signia Small Diameter Reload can safely be used for pulmonary artery division during lung lobectomy.
Conclusion:
Although oozing after division sometimes occurs, it is controllable with simple compression.
